After the University of Alabama announced a continuos open bidding process for greek organizations on September 17th, Sororities have admitted six new members from minority backgrounds.

Alpha Gamma Delta and Kappa Alpha Theta were among the sororities that had bids accepted by black students.

In an interview with UA’s student newspaper, The Crimson White, Alex Graham, president of Alpha Gamma Delta, said, “We are very excited to be a part of this forward movement that’s happening on our campus. We appreciate the University’s support and we congratulate all the young women that are now a part of our Panhellenic sisterhood.”

But, after segregation scandals have rocked the University over the past couple of weeks, is this progress enough to make a significant change?
